STRIX SYSTEMS GETS STRATEGIC INVESTMENT FROM SAMSUNG

CALABASAS, Calif., February 13, 2007
CORE NEWS FACTS
Strix Systems, technology and market leader in wireless mesh networking, receives strategic investment from Samsung Ventures America, the US based venture capital investment arm for Samsung Venture Investment Corporation (SVIC).

Samsung Ventures has seen significant WiFi/WiMAX opportunities worldwide, especially in areas of next generation mobile broadband through wireless mesh, and wireless backhaul for 3G and WiMAX via advanced mesh technology.

Samsung Ventures has reviewed nearly all wireless mesh products on the market, and believes that Strix has the best solutions, especially in supporting mobility, voice and video over wireless mesh.

Samsung Electronics, the market leader in WiMAX equipment, is a key player in driving the worldwide adoption and deployment of WiMAX.

Samsung Ventures is committed to support for partnership opportunities in deployments and product development between Strix Systems and Samsung Electronics.

COMMENTARY
"We evaluated nearly all the mesh network vendors and chose Strix Systems for their industry leading performance and innovations in technology,” said Brian Kang, Investment Principal of Samsung Ventures America. “Our strategic investment in Strix Systems represents our commitment to the convergence of industry leading wireless technologies and the ability to address the intense demand for mobile voice, video and data services."

“This investment from Samsung Ventures America is a testament to the strength of Strix Systems technology and innovation and will enable us to address immediate and future revenue opportunities in WiFi mesh,” Said Bruce Brown, Chairman and CEO of Strix Systems.

“Strix is a natural choice for SVIC. Samsung is very serious about WiMAX and WiFI but has a gap in the WiFi mesh space.” Said Patrick Donegan, Senior Analyst at Heavy Reading and creator of the Wireless Mesh Equipment Market Tracker. “Strix has made a rapid impression on the WiFi mesh equipment market, shipping more mesh radios than any other vendor in the first half of 2006.”

About Strix OWS

The Strix Access/One OWS and IWS modular mesh products deliver the largest capacity (up to six radios and 768 users per node, three to six times the norm), highest throughput (five times the norm at 35 Mbps), and best scalability (users can add more radio boards, 4.9GHz, WiMAX modules, or new technologies). An independent wireless mesh test sponsored by Light Reading and completed in June 2006 found Strix’s OWS 2400-30 delivers the best throughput and capacity, the greatest scalability for voice applications, and the best mobility/roaming.  Strix networks scale to 10 or more wireless hops with near-zero throughput loss and latency.  Customers can deliver real-time applications with a minimum of wired connections for a given area, which reduces CapEx and OpEx.
