Fall 2004 VON Conference Will Employ Strix Systems Wireless Network

LAN Mesh Network Provides Conference Organizers with Flexible Deployment

CALABASAS, CA – October 14, 2004 – Strix Systems, a technology leader in wireless local area networking systems, announced today that it has been chosen as the wireless network provider for the Fall 2004 VON Conference and Expo at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston October 18-21. The convention center will provide full wireless access to VON attendees using Strix’s Access/One mesh network during the four day conference.

“Wireless IP solutions are enabling a new infrastructure for the enterprise which is why we are continually interested in their development,” said Jeff Pulver, president and CEO of pulver.com, Inc. “Strix’s participation in this year’s conference as the wireless provider illustrates just how significant we feel the rise of mesh networking can be to IP communications.”

Strix Systems’ Access/One Network uses a mesh topology and no-wire access points, which will enable a clean, easy deployment of the network in the general session, press and breakout rooms as well as hallways, lounges and corridors.  Since the network nodes or access points are self-discovering and self-tuning, the nodes need only turned on for the network to begin to take shape. Using Manager/One, the VON networking manager will be able to monitor the network at all times.

“We are eager to see Strix’s Access/One Network in action within a hectic trade show environment,” said John Jones, conference networking manager for VON.  “Since the Access/One Network actually eliminates the need for Ethernet wiring on the back-end of the access point, we can easily expand or modify the network during the show amidst the constant changes to internal structures and material placement.”

An IP3 Networks NetAccess Gateway will be deployed in conjunction with the Strix Access/One Network to handle device authentication and home page redirect. The two systems integrate seamlessly, providing the show organizers a wireless networking system that is easy to install, manage, configure, and operate.

At the beginning of this year’s conference, Matt Holdrege, director of business development at Strix, will participate as a member of a panel discussing the impact of mesh networking on VoIP. This panel will be part of VON’s Wi-Fi VoIP Summit on October 18 and will begin at 3 pm.
