Strix Systems® Announces MIMO based 802.11n for its Access/One® Network Family of Solutions

Introduces A1N 5000 family: Blistering Fast Wireless™ with Single Unit Gigabit Capacity

Santa Clara, California, October 12, 2010 - Strix Systems®, Inc. a worldwide leader in high performance wireless mesh networking technology products and solutions, has announced today the addition of the A1N 5000 family to its Access/One® family of solutions. The A1N 5000 family is based on a new modular architecture comprised of a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) based 802.11n multi-radio mesh platform and multi-Gigabit switching backplane. A1N 5000™ family members include the 5600 Series (Wide Area Mesh), the 5400 Series (Indoor Mesh), the 5200 Series (Outdoor CPE with built-in Antenna), the 5100 series (Indoor CPE), the 5300 series (Mobile) and the 5700 series (Integrated Video Surveillance).

The A1N 5000 architecture is in line with the Strix commitment of multi-radio Layer 2 switching platforms that provide near full duplex performance allowing greater sustainable throughput over multiple hops compared to any other solution. The automatically self forming, self configuring and self healing design make the network highly redundant, interference resilient, reliable and easy to operate. Tunable mobility parameters enable seamless roaming across the network for vehicular, industrial heavy equipment, truck, bus and high speed roaming for rail applications. The blistering fast wireless mesh provides Gigabit connectivity to Ethernet, Copper or Fiber landline infrastructure. An enhancement over earlier architectures, the new platform supports up to six (6) radios in any combination, 11n MIMO, 4.9, as well as other licensed or unlicensed frequencies.

"As a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering economic progress, OneCommunity is building one of the largest and fastest fiber-optic and wireless broadband networks in the world, and it is critical that our network infrastructure delivers unparalleled performance and scalability at the industry’s lowest cost of ownership," said Chuck Girt, Vice President of Engineering and Operations, OneCommunity. “The Strix Systems wireless products deployed in our network have provided the kind of reliable high performance solutions that we require. Going forward we are impressed by the demonstrated performance of the new Strix high capacity 11n products that we can easily integrate into our existing Strix network and facilitate our aggressive growth plans."
Since its inception, the Strix architecture has been a more advanced system providing clear advantages over other mesh solutions available today. The new A1N 5000 family continues this commitment to high performance multi-service networks.

"Over the past year we‘ve been closely monitoring market acceptance for outdoor 802.11n and have been developing our products in stealth mode to address demanding customer needs. We are strategically empowering our multi-radio solutions with 802.11n and MIMO technology that will bring a paradigm shift to larger-scale, multi-service networks. Our next generation infrastructure wireless mesh solutions will map the key customer expectations of fiber-like performance, high-bandwidth, greater reliability, easier deployment and frequency flexibility,” said Rajesh Shah, CEO, Strix Systems.

The Strix Network Management System has been enhanced to support new 11n deployments, expansions of existing Strix networks with 11n, and new unlicensed and licensed frequencies. The new A1N platform also delivers intelligent edge optimization from end-to-end QOS, load balancing, network path optimization and other features designed to maximize performance in a variety of applications.

“Our customers are interested in building, expanding or upgrading their wireless broadband networks in order to gain improved range and throughput for a variety of applications. Our new A1N 5000 architecture and family design includes both infrastructure and subscriber/edge systems. The existing and new solutions combined provide the flexibility to meet customer requirements in both mesh and point-to-multipoint applications such as large scale multi-service networks, video surveillance, automatic metering, transportation, etc. We are committed to deliver Blistering Fast Wireless™ to meet our customer’s needs,” said Martin Levetin, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Strix Systems.
